Quit Smoking Advice

These clips are from the BBC: Horizon documentary series entitled “We Love Cigarettes”. The advice Allen Carr gives is pretty damn good, it convinced me (a 5 year smoker) to quit cold turkey. It has been a couple months now and I’m still going strong. Update: It has been over one year since my last cigarette and I have never been tempted to look back. I really hope this simple advice has helped someone else.

He’s not wrong:) I haven’t smoked for 3 days now and so far I haven’t really felt any cravings, I’ve got no cigarettes to hand and I’ve got a pot that already has £17 in it:)

I have smoked for 30 years, nonstop. I have tried the patch, chantix, gum..you name it and Ive tried it. I stumbled across a you tube video featuring Allen Carr the other day and really liked what he had to say. According to him you will stop smoking after you read his book. Yeah right. So I ordered the book. The easy way to Stop smoking.

@insearchofgraves I read it last night. Finished it about 10:00pm. Handed my husband the half pack of cigarettes I had left and said Im done. This morning I got up and expected to do what I have done for the last 30 years and thats reach for a cigarette. I didnt want one. The desire was dead. Gone.

@insearchofgraves I’m on my 3rd day…… No withdrawals, nothing. I cant explain it except to say It all makes sense now. I understand what the whole addiction is about and why I smoked and why I have stopped. I get it. GET THE BOOK!

I have gone a grand total of four months without smoking, during which I trained myself, and ran a half marathon. The other day, like clockwork, I stuck a match and lit one up. I can’t say it was enjoyable, except I wanted to do it so badly, and I still want to now. Are some neurological connections of the brain this powerful, or am I just a wimp?

I’ve gone 2 days without smoking, this is my first time, and i smoked a pack a day for 10 years, I’m doing this solely on the decision to not deliberately kill myself. It is hard, but it’s also easy, you only think it’s hard when it isn’t, and think it’s easy when it’s not, deep down, EVERYONE knows how to quit smoking, if you want to smoke you will, and if you don’t want to smoke you’ll quit, it’s very simple, the only problem is you have to be very honest with yourself. (most people lie)

@conman2317 yes your dead right, i smoked 20 a day for 15 years but i read his book 7 months ago and aint smoked since. and now i wonder why i didnt quit years ago because yes it is easy to quit. now i spend all my time trying to get everyone i know to read his book and quit with some success. just keep saying to yourself ITS EASY, ITS EASY, ITS EASY

Out of all seriousness, Allen Carr’s method really does work. Forget any other smoking book you have read or anything else you have heard on quitting smoking. I bought his book for $14.95 (about two packs of cigarettes!) and I have saved myself a painful death, and learned a better way of life. It is incredible when you quit and look back at all your years or decades of smoking.
